This is a very long overdue post so I’m so happy that I’m putting pen to paper… or should I say finger to keyboard!!!
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you would have remembered a while back that I was given the opportunity to attend a boutique secret event created by London Fashion bloggers introducing me to Rentez-Vous.
What is Rentez Vous?
Rentez-Vous is an innovative fashion renting revolution like no other – but first let me reminisce back in time so I can explain why Rentez-Vous is awesome! I’ve only rented once in my life and that was to wear a real expensive jumpsuit to the British Fashion Awards! Although I looked great on the night, the price of my rental was probably equivalent to a pretty decent high end high street dress (like Reiss or French Connection). The great thing about Rentez-Vous is that clothes are made available to you at an affordable price – this is something not many rental companies can give you! Additionally, the clothes that are available to rent are from up and coming designers and bloggers. This means that you can rent a rare piece of clothing that’s not available to many or adapt the style of a blogger icon you love!
I know some people may still be thinking that they aren’t a fan of renting. I mean IT IS someone else’s clothes! Although, I have to say that I was impressed that Rentez-Vous had some policies in place to keep the renters and owners mind at ease. There were rules in the event of damaged goods, rules about dry cleaning and pick up and drop off points for clothing.
Finally, Rentez-Vous is a sociable movement there is the opportunity to meet the people you rent your clothes from and there are currently a few Rentez-Vous events taking place in the UK and France.
The event was great! It started with a mini presentation discussing London Fashion Bloggers as an organisation. It moved on to an interesting talk covering female habits with clothes and styling as well as the need for Rentez-Vous. The best fact I learnt on the day was that “70% of girls admit that they wear less than half their clothes!!!”
Prior to the event all bloggers brought some items of their own clothing and after the presentations it was our task to mix and match the clothing to create an outfit. The only catch here was that each garment had a word associated with it (selected by the owner) and it was each bloggers role to echo or discuss how the word related to the garment once completing the look. The bloggers present on the day were Minnie (minnieknows.blogspot.co.uk), Thuy (www.bridgeofmemories.blogspot.co.uk), Charis (http://stylecharisma.com), Style Dynamo (thestyledynamo.com) and Caroline (stylebykarro.blogspot.com)
However… it isn’t the end… I ended up taking my Evelina Romano top home and now it’s my chance to style it… Let’s see how it goes in Part Deux!
