CLUTTERERS!
Last weekend, I had signed myself up to a Brunch Party that involved fried chicken! Yes… that’s right chicken. Fried. I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself into and the day before the event I kept wondering how it was going to work.
The Brunch party took place at Clutch Chicken which is really hard to miss – A BRIGHT YELLOW RESTAURANT IN EAST LONDON! Once you enter you agree to adhere to four very simple brunch etiquette guidelines:
When in the house, we are a family. We don’t do mothacluckin cliques
You may be sitting next to people you don’t know. Throw chicken bones at them. Say hello. Make friends
If you aint here to pardaay, please go back to bed
Spread love. It’s the “not-quite-Brooklyn” way
All these rules pretty much aligned with my basic party / social senses. There’s no point leaving the house to segregate yourself. With these rules in mind I grabbed a drink to begin my BLVK+WHITE Brunch Experience.
The first course was some amazing breakfast canapés. I loved the great tasting posh corn chicken as it had so much flavour packed into one bite the taste was just mind-blowing. My favourite canapé has to be the croquet crostini with quail eggs. Don’t judge me – but I am a person that absolutely loves eggs and as soon as the crostini reaches your mouth you get an oozing burst of egg and melted cheese. I’d refer to the canapés as manapes because they were fairly large – but I didn’t think it was a bad thing at all.
Whilst enjoying the canapés, I have to say that there was a real buzzing vibe. Attendees were an eclectic mix of friendly people getting to know one another with a backdrop of throwback RnB, Soul and House music classics.
We were then seated for our main course and I opted for the Wishbone Waffles ( a culmination of marinated buttermilk chicken with turkey bacon, waffles and a bourbon syrup). Other choices included Put a Wing On it (sour and spicy chilli or honey and sesame wings) or Dozy Drake (poached duck eggs with caramelizes onions on sourdough with mushrooms and parmesan crisps). All mains were served with fries, house slaw and roasted corn. I dare you to finish your main – it was so tasty but I was sad that I couldn’t finish mine.
Our final course were some dessert canapés that were followed by a live performances and an afternoon of dancing. I would strongly recommend that you get down to the next BLVCK+WHITE Brunch Party for some good times with old and new friends.
BONUS: You get unlimited mimosas during the two hour brunch service 🙂
